The song that started it all. "Tecumseh Valley" by Townes Van Zandt was the first song played on the opening night at Gypsy Sally's on September 12th, 2013, and the lyrics gave the venue its name. David Ensor, Co-Owner of Gypsy Sally's, sang that song again to open their last and final show at the venue on January 5th, 2020.
As if it didn't give us enough, this song now provides the bookend to what we'd like to call the Gypsy Sally's era in the DMV music scene. "Her ways were free, it seemed to me, that sunshine walked beside her."
