Paddy cultivation by SRI method 2
Crop nutrients are elements that are essential in providing healthy and vigorous plants.
They are the backbone of the entire crop production. Without crop nutrients, very little to not yield can be expected.
Balanced nutrition is essential to help crops reaching high yields and quality, moving towards a crop's maximum genetic potential.
The challenge for farmers and growers is that the rate and the ratio at which each nutrient is needed by a plant changes over its growth cycle.
Nutrient Management
Soil nutrients should be supplied preferably with FYM or compost made from biomass.
Value-added bio-compost such as vermicompost gives additional advantages.
A small quantity of Chemical fertilizer can be used for better results. The use of mixed chemical fertilizer NPK (46-46-50) is recommended.
weed management
Instead of weeding manually and throwing the weeds outside the field, there are several advantages of using the weed removal machine.
Use the weeder on the 10th and 20th day after transplantation.
The weeding problem is addressed to a large extent with this effort.
As the plant is strong and healthy, the number of tillers would be more.
Start using the weeder, when the weeds are small, i.e; on 10th day after transplantation.
Pest and Disease Management
Integrated pest management (IPM) in the SRI method is practiced to avoid investment in plant protection chemicals. Synthetic pesticides are used only when the incidence of pest or disease is very severe.
Advantages
SRI method of rice cultivation increases grain yield with the same level of inputs and capital.
Reduce water, seed, and chemical fertilizer inputs make it more profitable than conventional methods of rice cultivation.
Since yields can double or more with only half as much water, the productivity of water is greatly increased - this is especially important in countries or places where water is becoming scarcer.
