PREPARATIONS FOR WORST AS REACTOR REOPENED
Romania/Bulgaria Natsot Duration: 2.06"
Following the Bulgarian announcement of its plans to reopen the
Kozlodui Atomic reactor, Romania is preparing itself for a
potential environmental disaster. Experts will carefully analyse
water samples from the Danube river, which forms the common border
with Bulgaria, and which also cools the atomic plant at Kozlodui.
Pharmaceutical plants in Bucharest have begun producing iodine
pills, to be distributed in "zone zero" - the name given to the
area that will be most affected by any accident at the Kozlodui
plant - in an effort to counteract some damage that will
inevitably happen.
