Authentic Odisha Recipe. That is made with pulses and vegetables. Its not only a part of daily diet but also a part of Puri Mahaprasad.
Serving 5 to 6
Tsp- tea spoon
Tbsp - table spoon
Ingredients:
Split yellow peas ¾ cup
Split chick pea ¼ cup
Little portions of each veggi , you can increase or decrease the quantity of the vegetables that you like.
Papaya
Pumpkin
Brinjal
Beans
Potato
Sweet potato
Pointed gourd
Raw Banana
Taro Root
Carrot
Tomato
Other Ingredients:
Ginger ½ inch
Green chili 3-4
Bay leaf 1
Coconut grated 4 tbsp
Turmeric
Salt to taste
Water as required
Tempering:
Ghee
Whole red chili
Whole cumin 1tsp
Dalma Masala: can be used for other dishes too
Roast
Red chili 8-10
Cumin ½ cup
Grind to a course powder
Procedure:
1. In the pressure cooker add the pulses , vegetables , bay leaf , turmeric powder , salt to taste, grated coconut.
2. Close the lid and cook till the first whistle. Then remove from heat and let the pressure be released. Wait for 5 to 7 min then release the pressure of the cooker.
3. For the tempering in ghee add the red chilly , cumin
4. Add the dalma from the cooker to the tempering.
5. Add the roasted chilly and cumin powder.
6. Top it with ghee
7. Serve hot with rice, roti, puri or paratha.
