Based on the 2001 novel Fire In The Hole by Elmore Leonard, the series tells the story of U.S. Federal Law Enforcement Officer Raylan Givens, who uses traditional methods to solve modern-day cases.Raylan is a cowboy-ish Western police officer, perpetually wearing a Stetson felt hat, cowboy boots, and a hip cowhide holster with a spare pistol sticking out of it. He doesn't use the pistol until he has to - because once he draws it, his opponent has to bleed. He believes that's what pistols are for: either you don't use them or you kill them with one blow.Raylan was born in rural Kentucky and raised in the small town of Harlan.
