Rob Wootton talks you through something special. Introducing the latest from Free Spirit: the Hi-‘S’ Power Feeder XSD rods, available in both 12ft and 13ft lengths. These rods have generated significant excitement in the UK and across Europe.
Like all Hi-‘S’ Power Feeders, they feature hollow carbon quiver tips which seamlessly integrate with the quiver top section. This design ensures a smooth and powerful transition between the rod sections, resulting in a sharper response and virtually eliminating tip bounce. Additionally, the stronger butt section enhances casting performance, making it easier to achieve longer and straighter casts.
Constructed from Japanese ultralight low-resin carbon with a 1k weave and finished with our durable Perdurable coating, these rods will maintain their appearance and performance over time. Equipped with cork handles, EVA front grip, and a Fuji reel seat. The quiver tips for the 12ft and 13ft rods are rated at 5oz, with options for 3oz and 4oz available. The rod guides feature twin legs for the butt and first intermediate guides, transitioning to single-leg designs for the rest, which helps reduce weight while accommodating shock leaders.
In extensive testing, these rods have demonstrated the ability to cast well over 130 meters, with some European tests for bream using slim braids to reach distances of 140-160 meters.
Both rod lengths have proven effective at large UK still waters, such as Boddingtons, with hybrid feeders, bombs, and solid bags.
