New York is the U.S. state hardest hit by the coronavirus, where it has claimed more than 3,500 lives. Public health experts say the situation is about to get worse, not only for New York, but for the rest of the United States as well.

But New York noted a few positive developments Sunday, including lower numbers of new patient admissions and fewer patients needing ventilators.

“But, we are looking at this seriously now, because by the data, we could be either very near the apex, or the apex could be a plateau and we could be on that plateau right now,” New York Governor Andrew Cuomo cautioned Sunday.
