Today we celebrate St. John Paul II's feast day. During his time as Pope, he encouraged conversations with those of different faiths and traveled to over 100 countries to spread the word of God. He also attended the Second Vatican Council, where he advocated for religious freedom and highlighted the dignity of the human person. Pope John Paul II is considered a "great reformer" of the Catholic Church and was canonized in April 2014. Rector of the St. John Paul II Seminary and author of the books "Why Celibacy" and Cross-Examined," Fr. Carter Griffin, joins to talk about the first Polish Pope and the second longest serving pontiff in modern history, St. John Paul II. The saint was known for his ability to have conversation with those of other faiths. Fr. Carter discusses why that is so important and the lessons we can learn from him. St. John Paul II also serves as an extraordinary example of how to forgive others, praying for the man who attempted to assassinate him and even meeting with him in prison. Fr. Carter shares more about that. The rector of the St. John Paul II Seminary fills us in on his work at the seminary and how it helps keep the saint's spirit and message alive.
