One of Scotland's oldest family-run and independent whiskey companies is William Grant and Sons. As soon as it was founded in 1887, it established the Glenfiddich and Balvenie distilleries. As one of Scotland's oldest family-owned Scottish blend brands, Grant's specializes in both single malts and blends.
Granted, Grant's Triple Wood can be difficult to locate in the United States, but it can be found in abundance in Europe. A slightly more modern twist was added in 2002 to the 1957 bottle design created by Hans Schlager.
01:31 Ageing Process
The Triple Wood Scotch Whisky is aged using three different casks: virgin oak, American oak and ex-bourbon. The majority of the whiskey is sourced from its own Girvan distillery as a base and it's been blended with other whiskeys.
01:55 Robe & Appearance
Grant's Triple Wood has a slight Amontillado sherry color with slight haziness and a bit of sediment. The legs are thin and they run down the glass quickly.

The nose is quite intense with a nice unctuous nose feel with a diverse variety of notes. It's predominantly dominated by toffee along with fresh pear, bread and butter pudding, and slight oily vanilla.

There is quite a fiery mouthfeel, but very pleasant, nonetheless. In the opening, there is some toffee, a bit of bittersweet grapefruit, a little bit of citrus, and some fresh walnut. In the heart, you're going to see some lemon grass, a nice bit of zestiness with some red Apple and shortcrust pastry.
04:02 Overall Experience
Overall, this Grant's Blended Scotch has a velvety mouthfeel. It's quite complex and, for a blend, this is excellent. You can tell it has been aged or that the various whiskeys that have been used in the blend have been aged a little longer.
The finish consists of caramel with some soft vanilla that's just going to add a little bit of sweet spiciness to it. There's also tones of malt that really does linger for quite a while.

Looking at the bottle: this triangular-shaped bottle has been around since 1957 and it really does stand out from the crowd. It fits very comfortably into the hand when serving and it looks great.
In terms of value, so most Grant's blends, they're going to come around $27 in the USA so it's really quite affordable and a great value.

In terms of dishes, consider pairing with: dark chocolate, fresh walnuts, or dried fruits such as raisings, figs, or dates.
If pairing with a cigar, we recommend a full-bodied to medium cigar. For instance, a Plasencia Al del Fuego, a very spicy cigar, is a great partner as it has a very strong character. Otherwise, Plasencia's Almar Fuerte may also work with this Whisky's flavor profile.
