Jeera rice is simple Indian rice dish made using cumin called as Jeera. This rice can be made in a pot or pressure cooker.
Jeera rice is usually served as a main dish along with some gravy dish like paneer butter masala, veg makhani, egg curry or butter chicken. It can be served with any gravy or curry of your choice.
Usually basmati rice is used to make Jeera rice, however any kind of rice can be used. You will need to adjust the amount of water depending on the kind of rice used.
Ingredients
2 cups basmathi rice (aged or any other rice)
2 tbsp ghee or oil
2 ½ to 3 tsps. Jeera / cumin (adjust as desired)
1 bay leaf / Tej patta
1 strand mace / javitri
2 to 4 green cardamoms / elaichi
2 inch cinnamon stick / dalchini
4 to 6 cloves / laung
Salt as needed
1 large onion thinly sliced
2 to 3 green chili slit and deseeded
3 ½ cups water(adjust if needed depending on the rice)
