1️⃣ What is achalasia?
First off, note that "achalasia" or achalasia cardia" is a medical term for "difficulty swallowing food".
To understand achalasia, we are supposed to get familiar with normal anatomy of alimentary tract. So, we begin the video with normal anatomy of human alimentary tract.
2️⃣ Why achalasia of esophagus is important to us? that's because untreated patients develop very serious complications. in this video we mention 3 main complications of achalasia.
3️⃣ How does achalasia develop in children (what's the disease pathogenesis)?
Just as a quick review, our alimentary tract has 4 separated layers (alimentary tract anatomy is fully explained in the video). In achalasia the problem is in the muscular layer of human alimentary tract. in this video, achalasia pathology is elaborated in a simplified manner.
4️⃣ What are achalasia symptoms?
a wide range of symptoms are reported from affected patients with dysphagia being the most frequent one. Other achalasia symptoms are fully explained in this video.
