High drama ensued at the launch of the annual diary of the Movie Artistes Association. The event witnessed a fiery war of words between Megastar Chiranjeevi and MAA Vice President Rajasekhar over problems that exist within the association. It all started when Chiru spoke about how all members of the association must work together as one family and sort out all issues between them. An irked Rajasekhar immediately took the mic and went on a rant about how there’s an attempt to showcase the industry as one big, happy family when all is not well in the association
Ever since I took over as Vice-President of MAA, I’ve been tirelessly working towards the progress of the association and the artistes. So much so that I have not even done a single film since. Chiranjeevi says we should sort things out as one family and move forward. However, when you light a fire, you cannot expect smoke to not be there. Every family will have problems but you can’t pretend we’re all happy to the outside world. What’s wrong in accepting that there are problems? We act like heroes on screen, but when someone is trying to act like a hero in real life, their voices are being throttled. What kind of industry is this?”, Rajasekhar fumed.
An infuriated Chiru slammed Rajasekhar for his behaviour and called for disciplinary action to be taken against him. “If you have something nice to say, please say it out loud. If not, have a meaningful discussion. When there are elders, one must speak with respect. Why should all of us stay here and be humiliated like this? How embarrassing is it for someone to show the industry in a bad light to the outside world?,” asked an enraged Chiru. “I strongly condemn his actions. When all of us were partaking in a sensible discussion, to aggressively take a mic, without following protocol or showing any respect to others is despicable. I don’t understand such behaviour,” he added. Veteran actor and former MAA President Mohan Babu also sparred with Rajasekhar, but was told to calm to down by Chiranjeevi. In fact, Chiru and Mohan Babu displayed a never-seen-before bonhomie on stage with the Sye Raa star even planting a kiss on Mohan Babu’s cheek. Interesting, indeed!
