In this video Jeanee, AKA Alaskan Pilgrim, tells about the issue of bedbugs in the albergues on El Camino De Santiago. She tells tips and tricks she has learned to help prevent them. Be proactive, before you even enter the albergue, place your backpack in a black plastic trash bag and seal it up. Make sure to check the corners of the mattress where the trim is, up by your face. Bedbugs are the size of a poppy seed to the size of a sesame seed. They love exposed skin, so cover up. Silk is very difficult for them to bite through, so long sleeve silk shirts and a silk sleep sack will help prevent any bites and exposure. With the high traffic and amount of transients from so many countries coming through, it's tough for the albergue owners to get a hold of it. You must be proactive to protect yourself. Buen Camino friends!!! Don't let the bedbugs bite!
