Investigators day Ladevon Cottingham killed a man and then called Takeria Adderly to ask if she would get rid of the body.
Cottingham had just gotten out of prison last June. Investigators say he went to a Circle K on Kathleen Road one night and randomly targeted one of the employees, Ricky Kimball. After killing Kimball, they say he called 22-year-old Adderly. When she refused to help him get rid of Kimball's body, detectives say Cottingham killed her too.
Lakeland police were working on one case and the Polk County Sheriff's Office was working the other. When they compared notes, they realized the crimes were actually related and charged Cottingham with both.
