Legendary actress, singer and animal welfare activist Doris Day died yesterday at 97 years of age.
Her loss is unfortunate, but we should all hope to be lucky enough to live a life as long and fulfilling as Ms. Day's. She began her career in 1939 as a big band singer recording Sentimental Journey with Les Brown and His Band of Renown in 1945. Going onto a solo career she recorded more than 650 songs from 1947 to 1967.
