유럽 각국 규제 조치 재도입 '불만 고조'...상인들 지원 촉구
European governments are tightening restrictions to contain the rapid resurgence of COVID-19,…as the total confirmed cases in Europe surpassed 10 million on Sunday.
However, the fresh measures are fueling anger and prompting protests across the continent.
Choi Min-jung has the details.
With Europe entering a new lockdown phase due to the resurgence of COVID-19, protestors are ignoring government restrictions and taking to the streets.
In Spain, the Madrid police force said on Sunday that police and firefighters raided a nightclub,… where 6 people were found drinking at 1:30 AM,… which is well past the newly imposed curfew period of 11 PM to 6 AM.
Officers found the people not adhering to social distancing or wearing masks,… and ten more bars were also found to be opened even after the curfew.
The busts come just a day after violent protests took place in Madrid against the newly imposed state of emergency which is expected to last for 6 months.
Over in Italy, many are also unhappy with government restrictions imposed last week.
On Monday, restaurant and bar workers took to the streets of Rome to protest against new regulations ordering businesses to close early.
"It really looks like those who decide about these measures are disconnected from reality, as if they live in these aloof buildings, wrapped in a safety net, and they don't really understand the reality of society."
Meanwhile, Germany's partial lockdown and France's second national lockdown is set to last until at least the end of November.
The Swiss city of Geneva, the global headquarters for many international organizations, has also imposed tighter measures as of Monday,… such as limiting gatherings to five people.
According to a Reuters tally, total infections in Europe surpassed 10 million as of Sunday.
