Warm temperatures following a weak or no freeze raise the potential for wet avalanche activity. These types of avalanches usually start small but gain mass and speed as they move down the slope. Loose wet avalanches will be easier to trigger on steeper slopes or break-overs as the snow surface heats up and gets wet. Warmest temperatures so far this spring are forecast over the weekend, and wet snow avalanches will increase in likelihood and size.
