I had so much fun making this and despite what happens with this audition, im grateful to have been a part of such a collective swelling of inspiration playing my lifelong favorite bands tunes! I had the idea early on to play this one, but I learned quick that I had to learn SO MUCH on a fundamental mechanics level in order to even try and play along with any success. It feels good to push boundaries as a musician and I can't even begin to explain with words how much of a mental and emotional mindfuck creating this video was!
This is off of Primus' newest album Conspiranoid, Im trying to prove that I've listened to this song more than anyone else on Earth 😁 entire weeks ive spent at my old factory job jamming this behemoth of a song on repeat. never got stale. still holds up :D :D
Mixed by me, Johnny Rocket ... I reinforced the subsynth hits in the song to try and replicate what it sounded like when I saw Primus back in August. Les would step on that subsynth and the whole place would rumble!
BIG OLE SIDENOTE: If you're a studio nerd and love building mixes or are interested in learning how to tackle this rich and fruitful hobby, message me! Let's nerd out and discuss anything related to music and mixing. We evolve as musicians more effectively together and I've learned so much from so many in order to put me in the mindset and position to create this video. I love discussing music and shining a light on concepts that we understand as humans on a very deep level. Ive personally had trouble articulating these concepts with others until I started learning and applying myself in the production and mixing game! Talking about and ultimately learning about mixing concepts provides a mindset that projects a macro image of any given project that you can always pull back and latch onto, and it honestly makes the songwriting process so much easier to reign in and be wildly productive while also organic. Context and connection between the minute details and the overall vision can be symbiotic at all levels at all times! Let's learn about some shit together.
Like and subscribe for future content, including tutorials on whatever I feel I can provide useful insight on! Playing, writing, tracking, editing, mixing....I have plans for them all. It's been a goal of mine for a long time to create a knowledge base with my YouTube channel and the universe is pushing me to start creating, so talk to me if you have ideas! comment, message, holla!
Thank you for your time and inspiration!
