China's malfunctioning moon rover - named Jade Rabbit after a lunar goddess in Chinese mythology - could still be saved.
The vehicle which woke up with mechanical problems after enduring a 14-day lunar night had earlier been declared dead on the surface of the moon.
However experts say there is hope as it is still able to pick up signals.
