How To Identify Male Or Female Rosy Barb
The Rosy Barb is one of the most beautiful freshwater tropical fishes. They are normally very peaceful in nature.
The difference of Male and female rosy barbs are difficult to find when they are young. As they get adult, then you can identify the gender by following steps.
1. Coloration
The male is usually more colorful and has more red or brighter pinkish coloration.
The female will most likely not have the red colors or if they do, just a slight amount of red and will mostly have yellow, olive or gold coloration.
2. fin
Males may have black edges to their fins, though this is not always the case.
Also note that females do not have any black colour in their fins.
3.Body size and shape
Males rosy barb are more larger in body size than females and more slender. Female is slightly plumper and smaller in body size,in general.
4.Breeding behaviour
Generally rosy barbs are peaceful species. During the breeding season male rosy barbs are aggressive towords other fish. Male also chases the female and moves around her.
5.Belly shape
Females have a broader, more rounded belly than males and they are larger and heavier.
