This offseason is an interesting one in the NBA. Stars being traded for bags of chips, players opting in scared to test free agency in an uncertain market, and a free agency period that has many of us asking questions on who will end up where. Dillon Brooks is NOT in this main grouping. He knows there is no returning to his former team who so readily dismissed him. He knows his reputation is about as low as it could be going into a free agency that was to yield your largest payday in a young professional sports career. To say Dillon Brooks value around the league is at it’s lowest would be to understate his position. He has burned bridges with many players around the league that ironically could desperately use his services, “hello, Cleveland Cavaliers and Donovan Mitchell”. Yet, I am still optimistic about his long term outlook. Despite where he is starting from he has an incredible opportunity to redeem his career and remind the NBA fanbases and front-offices that being great at something will always have a place on an NBA roster. For Dillon, it is his defense that is his calling card. In a league of scorers a defender of his magnitude comes with a high need and can transform a team’s makeup immediately, or catapult a good team to a great team and a great team to a Champion. Here is my list of the teams Dillon could go and immediately make such a profound impact on their team that teams will be brutally reminded just how valuable he is.
Can’t believe I left out the Indiana Pacers as an option!
