Hi Viewers,
Vietnam has more than 500 caves and still there are many to be discovered. We came across one such cave when we visited a village where the oldest tribes of Vietnam still live.
The village is home to Red Dao and H’Mong people which are 2 Vietnamese ethnic minorities. This village is called Ta Phin village located in Sapa district
We came across these local women who took us to this cave named Ta Phin Cave.
This cave has a height of only 5 meters and a width of only 3 meters
We were not prepared to visit the caves but these ladies won our hearts and we decided to give it a try.
They showed us the way and provided us with torches. If you plan to visit this cave do bring your own torchlight or you will have to rent this from the locals.
Couple of more ladies followed us into the cave. These women in their traditional outfits will take you inside and will show bizarre shapes of stalactites and stalagmites which look like crocodile, fish , tortoise , horses or even chicken.
You have to hold tight and hang to the cliffs to move forward at some points.
This cave is quite extensive and long. Tourists are not allowed to go deeper than 500 meters.
These ladies will keep you busy in the conversations and you will be followed by some other women than your guide. In the end, these ladies will ask you to buy their local merchandise.
These souvenirs could be handmade small artistic bags, scarves or jewelries and are locally made by these villagers.
So if you are adventurous and sportive, you will love the cave because you will have to climb and crouch a lot. And if you can, please help the locals. Their lives depend on only working on the fields and tourism.
