Saturday 4th August.

We left the flat plains and headed back into the mountains. In this part of Uzbekistan we are also very close to the borders of Northern Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. It was our original plan to cycle about 50km and stay at a Mountain Resort Hotel. A cook we met at breakfast time called the hotel but they did not have any rooms available. So we decided to continue into the mountains. Mette was having some pain in her knee. We were unsure if she could continue but after a long break at lunch time we decided to start cycling again. Luckily her knee was a little better and we managed to cycle to a restaurant/truck stop by evening. We had a nice dinner and were lucky when the waiter found a room we could sleep in at the rear of the restaurant.
The restaurant is at the base of the mountain we have to climb tomorrow. The mountain is 2200m in altitude so we will start early to gain some height before it gets hot.
