As we arrived two days ago back in Bali we had to face Nyepi for the first time EVER.
Most of the people have never heard ANYTHING about Nyepi, even the most people that are in Bali at the moment.

Nyepi is basically Bali's New Year Tradition and goes for a few days, in the evening before the actual Day of Nyepi a beautiful Paradise is held in EVERY Village here in Bali.

Holding demonic looking Statures and making as much noise as possible is the point to get rid of evil Spirits.

After that Balinese happily drink & feast to celebrate.

At 6 AM the next morning until the next day 6 AM (so exactly 24 hours) is the time for the Day of SILENT which is called Nyepi.

It's the most important day for Balinese and is stands for Meditation, Fasting and Self Reflection. No fire, light,pleasures, physical work or traveling is allowed.

If you're visiting Bali on Nyepi you will not be allowed to leave the house, the Wifi is turned off and also the Data on your phone doesn't work.

All Atm's, Beach, Streets, Restaurants are closed. Even the Airport is shut down. The streets will be patrolled by Village Police Men to make sure that no one leaves their place of stay.

We had a beautiful day, full of relaxing, watching movies, reading, working and staying together with the people of our homestay (especially because it was raining ALL DAY literally)

We don't think that it would be a reason not to come to bali, actually more of a reason to come to Bali during Nyepi. It's all about HOW you see it and WHAT you believe in.
