Hi, In this video you will learn how to design and develop a lithium ion battery charging and capacity testing station for 18650 batteries. For this project i have selected ZB2L3 and TP4056 modules which are used to test and charge these batteries. A wooden box is also designed to carry the prepared station anywhere you want.
These two modules are the heart of this project but it is also very critical to select the right power supply as the charging modules draws nearly 1 amp so the power supply should be capable and efficient enough to deliver the required amount of amperes to the respective modules.
ZB2L3
Method of use:
1. The measured battery should be charged in the first place.
2. Connect the battery to be tested is the positive to the input, the cathode to anode, input cannot meet the (load after the may damage the circuit).Connect the load to the output positive and negative, to the tester for micro USB communication work power (do not use a desktop or laptop USB power supply), the battery voltage at this time.
3. Direct start test just need to press the "OK" button, automatically according to the battery full charge pressure tester is able to develop appropriate termination voltage, and then launch the test will display flashing 3 times.Need artificial formulated only requires termination voltage battery voltage display state, press the "+" or "-" buttons to modify, termination voltage display for ps, on behalf of the voltage value behind, and the resolution is 0.1 V, set after press "OK" to start testing.
4. Load test after the start of tester is available to control the electronic switch, the testing process according to data on discharge capacity (Ah), the discharge current and battery voltage (V) (A) between the wheels.When the battery voltage to set after termination voltage tester to cut off the load control switch, and display the data stays above the capacity (Ah) and fast with corresponding indicator light flashing, displayed the actual discharge capacity is the capacity of the battery, press the "OK" may terminate flashing let data stability, according to press the "OK" button to return to again just on electricity state can replace the battery test in the next section...
The error code and meaning:
Err1: the battery voltage is higher than 15 v
Err2: the battery voltage is lower than set end voltage
Err3: the battery cannot afford to load or discharge current line resistance is too big
Err4: current is too large (current over 3.1 A)
TP4056
TP4056 is a complete single-cell lithium-ion battery with a constant current/constant voltage linear charger.
The SOP40 package with a heat sink on the bottom of the TP4056 and fewer external components make the TP4056 an ideal choice for portable applications.
TP4056 is suitable for USB power supply and adapter power supply.
Due to the internal PMOSFET architecture and anti-reverse charging path, no external isolation diode is required. Under high power operation or high ambient temperature conditions, thermal feedback will automatically adjust the charging current to limit the chip temperature.
The charging voltage is fixed at 4.2V, and the charging current can be set externally through a resistor. When the charging current reaches the final float voltage and drops to 1/10 of the set value, the TP4056 will automatically terminate the charging cycle.
When the input voltage (AC adapter or USB power supply) is removed, the TP4056 automatically enters a low current state, reducing the battery leakage current to less than 2uA.
TP4056 can also be placed in shutdown mode when there is power supply, reducing the power supply current to 55uA.
Other features of TP4056 include battery temperature detection, undervoltage lockout, automatic charging, LED status pins for charging and termination.
