The underground city of #Derinkuyu was discovered by chance in 1963 by a villager who wanted to renovate his house. It was opened for visits in 1965. Although the exact date is unknown, it is believed that Derinkuyu was used during the #Hittite, #Roman, and #Byzantine periods. Currently, only 8 levels have been cleared and are open for visitors.
