''''The international community should preserve, should continue to ask the Syrians to stop its support with terrorism and to implement fully the resolution of the Security Council 15-59. I believe that the Lebanese people deserve to have freedom and to have back its sovereignty. We would like to believe that by giving the Lebanese the opportunity to have democracy it will move them to adapt more moderate attitude toward Israel and maybe in the near future to have an open dialogue with Israel and with the free world and the international community.''''

10. SOUNDBITE: (English) Hani al-Mulqi, Jordanian Foreign Minister:
''''The Syrian troops would have to withdraw from Lebanon. This is not a condition that they can bargain with because there is a Security Council resolution. If Syria would like our support, to help Syria implement the resolution, I think we would be able to help Syria in terms of implementing the resolution, because implementation of the resolution should result in a stronger Lebanon and a Lebanon that is undivided.''''

STORYLINE:
Jordan''s foreign minister on Saturday said the withdrawal of Syrian troops from Lebanon was a condition that could not be bargained over.
Hani al-Mulqi, who arrived in Israel on Saturday for the first time since the Palestinian uprising started, said Jordan would be willing to help Syria implement the resolution.
Al-Mulqi met his Israeli counterpart Silvan Shalom in Tel Aviv as part of a trip to urge Palestinians and Israelis to press ahead with a peace deal.
Shalom said the international community should continue pushing Syria to stop supporting terrorism and to fully implement the UN Security Council resolution.
Shalom said he hoped that the chance for democracy might result in Lebanon having a more moderate attitude toward Israel.
Earlier, al-Mulqi travelled to the West Bank city of Ramallah to meet Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.
The two discussed security cooperation, al-Mulqi said.
Jordan has proposed a 1,000-strong security force comprising Palestinians it has trained be dispatched to secure West Bank areas once Israel withdraws from four settlements there later in the year.
Al-Mulqi said the Palestinians welcomed the idea of the force.
Jordan, together with Egypt, have been instrumental in trying to bring the Israelis and the Palestinians back to the negotiating table.
The Jordanian foreign minister is also scheduled to hold talks with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Vice-Premier Shimon Peres during his trip.
