Deakin University Epidemiology Chair Professor Catherine Bennett says we have to “break the cycle” of COVID-19 household transmission in order to decrease case numbers.
Ms Bennett explained to prevent further spread of COVID-19, businesses that continue to operate during lockdown need to be working in the safest possible way in order to break the link in cases stemming from the worker's contacts, particularly household contacts.
“That’s the important link and if you do that then those numbers can start to come down, you prevent one person from taking the virus home," Ms Bennett told Sky News.
“You don’t need to save that case from becoming a case but all their household contacts.
“So, you can actually bring numbers down from double figures and triple figures quite quickly if you can break those connections between the households that now seem to be happening more at work than perhaps in even in your grocery or supermarket.”
