In May I traveled to Croatia for a few intense days of sailing and learning how to manage a boat and its crew ⬇️⬇️⬇️

When I was growing up I spent a few summers sailing dinghies but after that sailing was on the ice for many years. Last year, after spending the pandemic watching the likes of SV Delos and Sailing La Vagabonde exploring the world's oceans, I decided it was time to take the plunge and get back into it.
Spending all of last summer as crew on small keel boats and a few offshore races was fun but left me dreaming what it would be like to have a boat of my own one day. Growing up in a family with a motor boat instead of a sail driven one it was also difficult to gain experience.
Why not just get a boat of my own right now you may ask?
1. I'm still a student and don't have the money nor means to buy or maintain a boat
2. I'm in medical school and don't know where I'll end up for internship/residency
3. I want to get more experience sailing different boats so that I know what kind of boat I want in the future
Getting the Day Skipper certificate allowed me to be a more versatile crew memeber as well as giving me the opportunity to charter yachts in the future. Even if it was an exhausting week it was still a nice break from studying to hang out with friends and enjoy the beautiful spring weather in Croatia.
