In the final webinar of our three-part series, we tie together our explorations of the social and legal injustices and inequalities that African Americans face by focusing on the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement. Professor John Stauffer from Harvard University examines the historical context and situates BLM within the larger context of social movements since the second half of the 20th century. Lauryn Mascareñez, the manager of teaching and learning for Teaching Tolerance at the Southern Poverty Law Center, also highlights pedagogical strategies that teachers can use in order to talk and teach about BLM in the classroom in constructive, meaningful ways.
