In this event, Yasheng Huang, the Epoch Foundation Professor of International Management at MIT, discussed how autocracy and ideological homogeneity have hampered Chinese technological development in the past, and threaten to do so again.

Drawing on new data, he will explored the policy implications of this historical pattern for China at a time of mounting strategic and economic rivalry with the United States.
