A few days have passed and Jughead is recovering in hospital from his ordeal at the hands of the Ghoulies. Kevin discovers a very distressed Moose in the washroom and, as he comforts him, they embrace and kiss. The new Sherriff, Michael Minetta, who is in the pay of Hiram Lodge, plans to raid the Serpents meeting place, the Wyrm bar. His orders are to clear them out of the Southside and maybe out of Riverdale altogether. But Cheryl forewarns the Serpents. Jughead, newly out of hospital, leads their escape to asylum in Fred Andrews’ house on the Northside.

FP decides the time is right for him to stand down as the leader of the Serpents, and he hands over the mantle over to Jug. Fred Andrews failed in his bid to become the Mayor of Riverdale, being narrowly beaten into second place by Hermione Lodge. Archie, however, was successfully elected as the new Student Body President at Riverdale High. But after he threatened to expose Hiram Lodge’s wrong-doings, Hiram sent Sheriff Minetta to haul Archie away, in front of the whole school, framing him with the murder of Cassidy Bullock.

Back in S2 E14, the gang were having a relaxing weekend at Veronica’s luxury lodge at Shadow Lake. Cassidy was working in the convenience store in the nearby town. He seemed to be flirting with Veronica when she and Betty Cooper popped in to pick up supplies. Later, Cassidy and his mob invaded the lodge to rob the gang, but fled into the woods after Veronica pressed a panic button. Archie gave chase and started beating up Cassidy when Hiram's henchman, Andre, turned up and told Archie to return to the lodge. As Archie made his way back through the woods, he heard gunshots as the young criminal was supposedly killed.
