The largest exhibition of art of the Enlightenment ever seen in Asia opened in Beijing's National Museum of China on Tiananmen Square in April, 2011. But hopes for a big step forward in cultural relations were dashed when China barred guests who were out of favor and arrested China's most prominent artist, Ai Weiwei.
