Despite coming close to the halfway mark, BJP has not managed to get a simple majority and form a government on its own in Karnataka. To rectify that, the party has set its sights on the old mysore region.
The Old Mysore region made up of eight districts in the southern part of Karnataka is dominated by Vokkaligas, a caste group that traditionally have politically supported the JDS. The BJP is at its weakest here but over the last 4 years, the party has been making concerted efforts to boost its presence in the region.
