(21 Feb 2015) Snow lingered in Jerusalem on Saturday morning as a winter storm continued to batter the city.
Twenty-five centimetres (10 inches) of snow fell overnight between Thursday and Friday, prompting Israeli authorities to shut down roads leading in and out of the city.
In spite of heavy rain on Saturday morning, patches of snow could still be seen in the Old City, dusting trademark monuments such as the Dome of the Rock, the Ottoman-era city walls, and the Church of All Nations.
"Jerusalem is such a beautiful city; the white only makes it more beautiful," said local resident Nuha Musleh.
Earlier in the week, snow also fell in parts of Israel, the West Bank, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria, as a cold front swept through the region.
