This week, the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Das in Bangladesh sparked massive protests by the minority Hindu community and global concern over the plight of Hindus under the new UNICEF government. Bangladesh has been witnessing attacks on Hindus, attempts to silence their voices and large-scale persecution of the minority community for many months. The Hindu population in Bangladesh accounts for just about 7.95 percent of the total population, yet they are the second largest community. The Indian government has repeatedly called upon the Yunus government to crack down on the extremists who are targeting Hindus in Bangladesh.
