Showers drenched Northern England, the East and the East Midlands this morning with the Met Office predicting further bleak conditions to continue throughout the afternoon and into the evening. There is forecast to be around 20mm of rain to fall in just under an hour later today with a yellow severe weather warning telling people to prepare for the possibility of localised flooding. However, while some areas endured soggy conditions – parts of Yorkshire (top right) and Dorset (bottom right) escaped with a bright start to the day and those likely to miss out on the rain are the thousands of people attending the Glastonbury festival (left) in Somerset .
