The 1.82 km bi-cable jig-back ropeway is constructed across the river Brahmaputra which connects south to North Guwahati. It is considered as an engineering marvel. The ropeway passes over the umananda Island – the smallest river island in the world and offers best scenic view. The cabin can carry 32 people and the ride could take about 10 minutes. The ropeway starts from Kachari Ghat ( Opposite Nehru park) on the southern bank to near Doul Govinda temple in north bank on the other.
