The Government has started sending out payments to successful applicants to its Business Employee Assistance Terms scheme. A total of £5 million in payments is already committed to, with a further £1.2 million expected to be approved as a result of applications made after changes to the eligibility criteria last Thursday.
The money should reach employees and self-employed individuals in the coming days. The average payout for employees is £1050, and for self-employed individuals it’s £870.
Speaking on GBC’s Viewpoint, the Financial Secretary said most applications were fair, but some have tried to cheat. Albert Mena said the Government will contact all applicants to let them know whether they’ve been successful or not, and why.
