The 16-inch Remington chain saw delivers several strong safety features. A low-kickback chain and reduced kickback guide bar reduce the chances of danger. The rear hand guard safely removes your operating hand from projectile chips, as does the front hand guard for the stabilizing handle. The 3-1/4-horsepower motor provides plenty of power for pruning and trimming. It also handles better under the duress of thick lumber (including heftier firewood) and smaller deck and lawn projects than its 12-inch counterpart, though we still wouldn't recommend using it on larger felling, which will stop up the blade and possibly do damage to the engine. The black plastic design offers little relief from the numbing effects of vibration, but, then again, the motor won't dish up anything you can't handle. Aside from the assembly, which poses a challenge even to the most seasoned chain saw operators, this is a good, basic, quality saw for light-duty lawn projects.
