Cyclone Biparjoy Hits Gujarat LIVE: Landfall Process Starts, To Continue Till Midnight, Says IMD
The Gujarat administration has evacuated nearly 1 lakh people ahead of Cyclone Biparjoy's expected landfall in the state today. The cylone is expected to make landfall near Jakhau port as a very severe cyclonic storm with maximum wind speed reaching up to 150 kilometers per hour, the IMD said. Ahead of the landfall, several districts of Gujarat have been witnessing heavy rainfall and strong winds. A total of 18 teams have been stationed in Gujarat, which is predicted to take the maximum brunt of the cyclonic storm and resulting strong winds and heavy rains. The weather office has issued red and orange alert for several states. The Ministry of Defence said that all armed forces including the Army, Navy, Air Force and Indian Coast Guard have made necessary preparation to provide assistance to the local people of Gujarat.
