French President Emmanuel Macron and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo join those paying tribute and holding a moment of silence for the victims of the deadly attack at the offices of Charlie Hebdo magazine ten years ago. In January 2015, Cherif and Said Kouachi, two French-born al-Qaida extremists angered by caricatures depicting Muhammad the magazine published, stormed its newsroom and killed 12 people, including the chief editor, several cartoonists and police officer Ahmed Merabet. Another five people were killed in subsequent attacks linked to the first attack over the next two days.
