2020 couldn't have gotten off to a better start for Connor Eccles, having been named Monaghan Minor football captain for 2020 and was dreaming of leading the team to glory. Then when the country went into a full lockdown in March, Connor's dream became harder to imagine.
While training individually, word spread that their teammate Dylan Byrne's younger sister Milly, had fallen seriously ill. Despite only being 17, Connor galvanised the Minor squad and his community to either walk or run a socially distant mile to raise much needed funds for Milly.
Electric Ireland have been sponsors of the Electric Ireland GAA Minor Championship since 2012. While the championships are on hold this year, we remain committed to showcasing the resilience and positive impact these young men have on and off the pitch and their contribution to their local communities.
