Today I wanted to make a video talking about how I got out of debt after physical therapy school.
I did 7 years (Master's program at the time)
The short and sweet of the video:
- I (try to) practice financial minimalism, which is a fancy way of saying I try to spend less on things
- I chose a state school for undergrad and physical therapy school which is why my loans after 6 years are so low (graduated in 2012)
- I went through Dave Ramsey's steps - basically established an emergency fund which I was lucky to receive in a lump sum as a "sign on bonus" (common in the PT world) And every dollar after that was sent off to loans for 3.5 years.
- I hoped that telling my story could inspire you to go into physical therapy as a profession or take action on finding ways to get out of debt sooner
- I am far from an expert on investing and personal finance, but there's so much free content out there on podcasts, YouTube videos, and spending a few dollars on financial books (or even going to your local library)
