The sun often makes us feel happy and the opposite can be said of the wintertime. But if it's more than feeling just a bit glum, you may be one of the 2 million people in the UK suffering with Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD. SAD symptoms are similar to that of depression with low mood, fatigue, irritability, not enjoying the things you used to enjoy, and it tends to peak between the months of December and February.
The cause of SAD is not fully understood. We believe it to be related to the sunlight and its interaction with our hypothalamus, a part of our brain that can control our mood, sleep, energy and appetite. If you do suffer with SAD, here are a few tips to try and get you through it.
