Liming a paddock to increase soil pH can increase P availability and subsequent grain yield. This is especially true if soil pH is less than 5 and low rates of P fertiliser are applied. Liming has a lesser effect on K and N availability. Using soil inversion (spading) to ameliorate soil water repellency appears to only change grain yield response to fertiliser if autumn conditions are dry.
