This is my real first experience with a Porsche 911 of any generation. I've always been a bit cynical about them from afar, but naturally intrigued by their huge popularity among car enthusiasts. There must be a reason, right? So I jumped at the chance to experience one for myself when it came up.
This particular car is a 1978 Porsche 911SC. It has a air-cooled 3.0 liter 6-cylinder boxer engine (a.k.a. flat-six) mated to a 5-speed manual transaxle. It's a very interesting and iconic car, but does it live up to the legend?
In this video, I talk a little bit about the car and Porsche in general, look around this car inside and out, and take it for a test drive in town and on a fun windy road. From these impressions I form a few opinions, comparing it to the cars I personally have experience with, notably my Opel Manta A, and especially my NA Mazda Miata. The question in my mind is, with the value of this 911 hovering somewhere around $50,000, does it really provide that much better of a driving experience in the real world, compared to something like a Miata? I'll let you watch the video to find out what I think.
In the video after this, I fix some of the issues I had with the car, which you can check out here: [ Ссылка ]
