Today on 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat NV 2.0 Two-Bike Rack, Part Number NV22G. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The most important feature about this bike rack is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that, we have this latch here, which is a little bit easier to get to, pull it towards us holding on to the bike rack and letting it come down. Now with it tilted away, we have full access to the rear hatch to get whatever we need with plenty of space on either side to do so.
You'll see here, there's still plenty of space between the actual hatch and the handlebars themselves. We've measured from the center of the handlebar out and that's about 9 inches, so even if it's a little bit longer you'll still be okay with hatch plans. To put it back to its original position, we'll just lift up on the bike rack. You hear that click and now it's locked back into place. How it grips the bike, it's going to have two points of contact. One being the padded wheel hook up at the front and then the wheel strap at the rear.
It also has an integrated cable lock on the back of this to wrap around your bike and locks to itself for additional security to prevent theft and tampering. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. We'll start by the wheel strap here, pushing in on the tab and loosening up the strap. With the wheel hook, you want to make sure you hold onto the bike when you release this because you don't want the bike itself to go falling into the vehicle. Go to the top of the wheel hook, push in on that tab, lift up, and push away. We'll go ahead and fold that back up.
With the bike rack in this position and measuring from the edge of the bumper, we've added about 30 inches to the rear of the vehicle. Our ground clearance to this bottom edge here it's going to be about 24 1/2 inches, and our closest point is going to be about 6 1/2 inches to this edge. Measuring from the center of the hitch pinhole to that same point is going be about 11 inches, so you want to keep an eye on that if you have different style of hitches. To gain more rear clearance for those close quarter situations such as parking or putting it in your garage, this does fold up as well. Again, you go to this lever here at the front, pull towards you holding onto the bike rack, then we'll push up and you hear that snap and it'll lock into place again. With it in this position, again measuring from the edge of the bumper, now we've only added about 13 1/2 inches to the rear of the vehicle.
Our closest point looks to be our wheel cradle and no matter how much I push here it's not going to make contact with that bumper. Also, we have this workstation here that can fold out and grip your bike by the seat bar so you can actually work on it before or after your ride. It's for 2-inch hitches only, comes with a locking pin on the inside here and then this anti-rattle knob at the end. You turn it to the right to tighten it and that's going to take out the shake and play in the shank to make for a much smoother ride. There you have it for the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack, Part Number NV22G, on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. First, we'll take it onto our slalom course. This will show you the side-to-side action such as making turns or evasive maneuvers. Now, we're at the alternating speed bumps. This will show you how it looks driving on uneven pavement or potholes. Finally, we're at the sold speed bumps, which simulates going into your driveway or parking lots.
