The alter ego of Tony Santoro is back to teach you silly pricks how to identify flowers as well as what the basic elements of flower morphology are. Were it not for flowering plants - aka the Angiosperms - human life on Earth would not exist. Flowering plants appeared 125 million years ago, 300 million years after plants first appeared on land (homage to Cooksonia). Today they form the base of Earth's food chain, yet astonishingly, few people have any idea just what the shit they're looking at when they look at a flower.
Far from just being some corny-ass botanical, showboat and a subject for inspirational posters and soothing imagery, flowers are biomechanical wonders. What better way to go about the wonders of genetic recombination via exchanging haploid gametophytes than to convince insects, birds, reptiles, and even mammals to do your work of mixing gametes for you?
NOTE : this is going to be far less entertaining and enjoyable to some of you than many of the other videos on this channel. I did this solely to help break down some of the key ideas and terminology for non-botanists that want to dive a bit deeper into the world of plants. Understanding these concepts will give you an entirely new and exciting way of looking at the world.

But certainly don't feel obliged - just knowing there are people getting as stoked on this shit as I am is rewarding enough. The more people paying attention to plants, the better off we will all be.
