Who Was Alauddin Khilji
Alauddin Khilji, also called Alauddin Khalji or Alauddin Ghilji born Ali Gurshasp, was an emperor of the Khalji dynasty that ruled the Delhi Sultanate in the Indian subcontinent.
Alauddin was nephew of Jalaluddin. When Jalaluddin became the Sultan of Delhi, Alauddin was given the position of Amir-i-Tuzuk (minister of ceremonies). After crushing a revolt against Sultan Jalaluddin, Alauddin was awarded the governorship of Kara. In 1296, Alauddin attacked Devagiri, and acquired looted treasure to stage a successful revolt against Jalaluddin. After killing Jalaluddin, he became the Sultan of Khalji dynasty.
